How it Works
-Utilizes PHP to make editing the layout easier.
-The design uses CSS, which provides a central stylesheet for the layout.
-Uses a Flash script to play preloading media videos rather than the normal Windows Media or Quicktime, which shortens page loading time.
-Makes use of various free services to make up for a lack of MySQL.
-Gallery uses a PHP script that enables easy uploading and management.
Layout
2005 - A black and red color scheme with an anime-style theme. Used frames instead of PHP, but required too much scrolling. Was also hosted on a free host, which contained too many pop-up ads.
2006 - A green and blue color scheme, designed mainly to be easy on the eyes. Changed entire code to use PHP and CSS. Was moved to a paid host and domain name: http://www.sfrobotics.com.
2007 - A red, white, and gold color scheme, which represents our school colors (red and gold). Uses a dynamic HTML navigation code, and various scripts for news.
Software
Notepad++ - Primary code editor
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 - Layout and image editing program.
Riva FLV Encoder - Program used to encode videos to flash format.
Smart FTP - A useful, free FTP client.
