238 days, 15 hours, and 26 minutes until Kickoff!

Welcome!

Image slideshow Welcome to the 2007-2008 Fembots website. We are an all-girls robotics team at St. Francis High School from Sacramento, CA. Our team was founded in 2000 by a Physics teacher, Mr. Glasser, who encouraged us to participate in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition.

Our mission is to nurture our curiosity of science and technology, create lasting friendships, develop new skills, and prove that an all-girls team can do just as well as any other team. But most importantly, we want to have fun, and FIRST sure gives us plenty of opportunities!

NOTE: No, we are not in any way, shape, or form affiliated with or related to the Austin Powers Fembots.

What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway Human Transporter. FIRST is a multinational non-profit organization that encourages and inspires kids to study and have fun with science, math, engineering, and technology.

FIRST operates several programs, including, the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), the high school level competition, FIRST Lego League (FLL) for younger students ages 9-14, and the FIRST Vex Challenge (FVC), a mid-level robotics competition also for high school students.

2008 Game: Overdrive

This year, FIRST has challenged us to a game called Overdrive. The goal of this game is to race around a nascar-like track while crossing finish lines and hurdling a gargantuan (40 inches in diameter) rubber ball, covered with cloth, over what is called an "overpass."
