Special Events: Lana, with the guidance of Mrs. Fong, sent out formal invitations for Practice Day to teams who came to our Kickoff. As she received team’s confirmations, the media team updated the team list on our website. We currently have 13 teams signed up for Practice Day. We also took our Fembot group picture for the school that will be placed in the gym foyer and the yearbook. Next week, we’ll be working with our lovely mentor, Mrs. McKinley, to devise a schedule and assign important jobs for each Fembot for Practice Day on February 18!

Community Outreach: On Wednesday afternoon Ria and Mary began mentoring Jr. FLL teams. This year’s Jr. FLL challenge is called “Snack Attack.” They talked about food safety and played games related to the challenge with the kids. 2-6th graders are the most adorable little monsters ever: we love working with them! Website problems caused a delay in paying the $25 registration fee and ordering the lego kits, so we may have to postpone our Expo date.

Organization / Chairman’s: Liz began editing the Chairman’s video! The Chairman’s team is still gathering footage, but we are on schedule and might even be able to put it all together next week! It is coming together very nicely so far, and we will continue to work on it over the next week.

Programming: Dani, Chelsea, Alex, Ty, and Catie finished putting codes and motors on Half-Pint! He created ruckus around campus, sneaking in to the teacher’s lounge! He managed to steal some cookies and coffee for the Fembots before he was caught. Next week, we plan to calculate the revolutions per minute on Half-Pint and work on the camera and electronics board for the robot.

Field Build: Mary, Shirin, and Rachel finished the backboard for the field, and painted the fender and the bridge. Next week, Field Build hopes to purchase all the pieces for the corral and assemble it.

Business: Throughout the week, Jordin and Shelly updated the purchase list, which is what we’ll be doing next week as well. All this typing has really increased our wpm (words per minute), and we can now type faster on Facebook our term papers!

Media: Reanna and Jane posted up all the information for the upcoming Practice Day in February. Reanna finally found a suitable background, and added all the team member profiles! Jane, with the help of Mrs. Demas, put up a picture slideshow on the front page, which we have been wanting to do for a while now. Next week, we plan to post mentor profiles on the website, and update the team history. Media will also be writing our page for the yearbook, editing the information about our team on the Saint Francis High School website, starting the Fembots Facebook page, and begin the template for our March 2012 newsletter.

Build: Build and welding have been working hard on the chassis all week and… WE’RE DONE! The robot should be finished by next week… in 8 days, to be exact.

Design (part of build): We finalized the design of the bridge tipping mechanism. We designed and laid out our electronics board and are now finishing the CAD design on the entire robot. Everything will be done by next week!
