Community Outreach: Alex, Chelsea, Ria, and Mary helped with Jr. FLL on Wednesday after school. The kids are so much fun to interact with.

Special Events: Practice Day was this weekend! It was amazing. 16 teams came to our school on Saturday morning out of the 20 teams that RSVP-ed. Thanks to our field build team, our parents and mentors, the help of Team 295 from Granite Bay, and Bill Clark from Tri Tool (one of our sponsors) we had a full size field set up in our gym. Seven robots, including ours, made it to the practice field that day. There was some excitement when a robot started to smoke during a match, but overall the robots performed well and the teams were able to practice for our...

Community Outreach: Alex, Chelsea, Ria, and Mary love mentoring Jr. FLL teams every Wednesday. The kids have been learning a lot and really enjoying learning about food safety. On Saturday, Reanna, Ria, Katrina, Mary, and Zaire volunteered at the NorCal FLL Capital Championship at William Jessup University in Rocklin. They worked as practice table security, score runner, timer, welcome desk and field resetter.

Special Events: Lana assigned jobs to each Fembot and nailed down the official schedule for Practice Day. The Fembots teamed up with other robotics teams—the Citrus Circuits and the team from Granite Bay High School—to set up the field for Practice Day. Rachel and Lana met with our school administration ...

Community Outreach: On Wednesday afternoon, Alex and Chelsea visited St. Ignatius School and worked with five Jr. FLL teams while Ria and Mary mentored another Jr. FLL team at SFHS. They had so much fun interacting with the Jr. FLL kids, coming up with unique team names and playing food safety-related games! Mentors were finally able to register Mary and Ria’s JrFLL team and order the LEGO Kit of Parts. We can’t wait to see what the kids build! On February 11th, Ria, Reanna, Zaire, Shelly, and Katrina will be volunteering all day at the District FLL Tournament. They responded to a request from the District Organizer for volunteers.

Special Events: A lot of teams are eager to come to our annual Practice Day on ...

Special Events: Lana, with the guidance of Mrs. Fong, sent out formal invitations for Practice Day to teams who came to our Kickoff. As she received team’s confirmations, the media team updated the team list on our website. We currently have 13 teams signed up for Practice Day. We also took our Fembot group picture for the school that will be placed in the gym foyer and the yearbook. Next week, we’ll be working with our lovely mentor, Mrs. McKinley, to devise a schedule and assign important jobs for each Fembot for Practice Day on February 18!

Community Outreach: On Wednesday afternoon Ria and Mary began mentoring Jr. FLL teams. This year’s Jr. FLL challenge is called “Snack Attack.” They talked about ...

Community Outreach: Eighth graders taking a lunch break from their placement test were met by B2, the Fembots 2009 robot. He inspired them to do their best on the remainder of their test. We hope to see all four hundred of them on the team next year.

Organization / Chairman’s Award: With the help of the media team, the Chairman's team interviewed many Fembots, Rookies and Veterans alike. Olivia, a rookie, said, "Because of FIRST, I have been given the oppurtunity to build things with my hands and now I know what I want to do with my life. Build.”  Next week, we plan to start compiling all of our interviews, statements, and pictures and begin editing.

Programming: The driver ...

Community Outreach: A talented group of Fembot speakers gave a successful Jr. Fll and FLL Expo for parents, teachers, and principals who were interested in starting a team.

Special Events: This week we focused on helping the design team. Our goal for next week is to send out official invites for our Practice Day. We are hopeful that all twenty three slots will be filled.

Programming: We finished the electronics board for our model programming robot, Half Pint.  We are researching and learning about the camera aspect of the game to use on Half Pint. Our goals for next week are to program Half Pint, start working on the electronics board for the actual robot, and begin autonomous.

On Saturday, January 7, 2012, our team and school - St. Francis High School, was host to 22 teams for the FIRST kick off event. This is team member Ty's impression of the day:

It was cold and very early in the morning. All of the Fembots were awake and ready for Kick-off to start. We had been waiting in anticipation all winter. The game was so close to being revealed and we were excitedly running around, escorting the other teams to the gym. We knew we all had to assemble in the gym for the live broadcast at 7:30 am.

As we began to gather in the gym, we heard teams gossiping about possible guest appearances in the broadcast, especially Stephen Colbert. People tried guessing what challenge Dean Kamen could have possibly ...

CalGames is an off-season practice competition for those who are new on the team to see how the competitions in March and April will go. My friends and I saw how much fun CalGames was. There was a lot more excitement than I expected from a robotics competition. CalGames was held in San Jose this year. We stayed down there for about 2 days and one night. In that short amount of time, I saw a whole new side of robotics that I never even thought about.

I worked mostly in the pits helping wherever I could. I also sat in the bleachers watching the robotics matches and talking with my teammates. The pits ...

We are eagerly awaiting Cal-Games Tournament at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose next weekend, October 20th and 21st! Cal-Games is a replay of last year's challenge, Logo Motion. In Logo Motion, the Fembots' Robot, Andy, was required to place three intertubes on the scoring rack. We are making the finishing touches on our robots, Andy and Candy, and the rookies are looking foward to their first tournament experience.

The Fembots are also happy to begin mentoring FLL teams at local elementary schools.

We currently have 27 members on our team.
