Team 692

The Fembots were founded in 2000, and started off with only six seniors and a physics teacher, Mr. Glasser. Together this group of girls called themselves the Fembots, being one of the few all-girls teams in FIRST robotics. Throughout the years our team has grown and shrunk but we have held strong as we work together to build a well-functioning robot!

The rookie team of 2001 consisted of 6 seniors from St. Francis High School. As Jim Beck told us about our first competition, it was in the pits when suddenly everything was dead silent. The six members of the Fembots had walked in, wearing baseball jersys and school skirts that didn't even reach their knees. One of the girls, who was holding some metal, dropped it to the floor. "We were supposed to put it together?!"They were assisted by a few Bay Area teams in building their robot during the one-day practice period before competition. The team succeeded in completing the robot and competing in the San Jose/ Silicon Valley Regional competition. The entire team graduated that year, leaving St. Francis with a rookie team again in 2002.
