This was another growing year for the Fembots, with nineteen rookies joining our team. We were very fortunate enough to be given our very own booth at the California State Fair, where the Fembots talked to thousands of visitors about our team and FIRST. The Fembots also continued to mentor FLL teams from middle schools in the Sacramento community. They hosted the Sam Brannon FLL tournament and held their own FLL tournament at St. Francis High School. We hosted our annual Kick-Off in early January where we watched the telecast and distributed the kit of parts to the teams who attended. Kick-Off was followed by six intense weeks of Build Season. We even hosted a Practice Day, building our own field during the six weeks of Build Season. All of our hard work paid off in the end when we arrived at competition. We showed our spirit and enthusiasm while we rooted for our robot on the field. This year, we won the Engineering and Inspiration Award at the Sacramento Regional for our exceptional community outreach and love of FIRST! The Championships in Atlanta was surreal. Although we didn’t win at Championships, we met tons of teams from all over the world—Israel, Brazil, Canada, and across the United States. As the school year came to a close, we began to prepare for the exciting year ahead.
