2005 - Passing on the Torch
Robot: Ankle-biter
Competition: Davis Sacramento Regional
The team this year was mainly made up of seniors and freshman. The main goal was to teach all of the freshman everything there was to know about building a robot, since there were almost no juniors or sophomores. Days were spent showing the younger members what to do and how to do it, so as not to leave them all in the dust the following year. We did somewhat well at competition, making it to the quarter-finals in the Sacramento Regional. But the design of our robot required too much precision to operate, and that eventually brought about our downfall. After this experience, we decided that next year we would strive to keep our robot as simple (and effective) as possible. That year, we also went home with the Spirit Award, as we were the loudest (and not to mention sparkliest) team at competition.
